Missing Our Granna

Today is the anniversary of a horrible day for my family--
the day we lost our Granna.
There are not many words to describe it,
and that comes from someone
who loves the world of written words.

So, I will just leave this at this--
life is different without you, Granna.
There is a part of my heart that is gone
and can never be replaced because of losing you.

Our Granna, Lois Loftin Brown
December 3, 1917 - March 9, 2004

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sun on ripening grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hushed light,
I am the up-fling of birds in flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there.
I did not die.
