Dinosaur Heaven
Ryan's Dinosaur (Licking a Green Lollipop)
This is a typical conversation with my 5-year-old son, but it is also a great example of why I love being his Mom.
Ryan: Mom?
Steph: Yeah?
Ryan: We talked about dinosaurs today at school. We learned that the first lady to find dinosaur bones died just about 6 years ago.
(pause)Steph: Really? Hmm…I didn’t know that.
Ryan: Yeah, it’s true.Steph: What else did you learn about dinosaurs? Did you learn about them being extinct now?
Ryan: What’s ‘eggstink?'
Steph: Extinct means there are no more dinosaurs living today, they all died off millions of years ago.
Ryan: Oh. That’s too bad.
(pause)Ryan: Mom?
Steph: Yeah?
Ryan: Where did the dinosaurs go when they died? Did they go to heaven?
Steph: Well, yeah, I guess they did all go to heaven.
Ryan: Yeah, I think they did too.
(pause)Ryan: I really wish that just one baby dinosaur could come down from heaven right here. I think it would be bigger than this Expedition.”
Steph: Well, I bet it would. That would be something to see wouldn’t it?
Ryan: A T-Rex would be bigger than THAT! (pointed to the overpass we drove past)
Steph: I bet it would be!
Ryan: That’s pretty big.
Ryan: Mom?
Steph: Yeah?
Ryan: Did you know that I am as big as a monster truck wheel?
