The 5 Stages of Blogdom

For your amusement...thought up this today...

1. Blogphoria-- Yippeee! My friend showed me how to blog and I am really connected now! Am I with it or what? I can rant, I can muse, I can post whatever I want all for the casual reading of my closest friends. This is awesome!!!!!!!

2. Blogphobia-- Uh…I AM REALLY connected now. Whoa….I can post whatever I want and EVERYONE can read it. Now, that I have announced my blog, I HAVE to be witty. I HAVE to find something interesting to say. Oh noooo….the pressure….I don’t know if I can take it!!!

3. Blog-bloatation-- Now, I’m getting into this. I’m writing everything about my day, every day, for everyone to read. Boy, I’m sure my friends are really loving this. I’m know they loved reading about the latest hairball my cat coughed up and how I thought (from a certain angle) it looked like Ed Asner. Woo…woo… Or my kids latest growth statistics and soccer games play-by-play. Everyone wants to read about that, right??? This rocks!

4. Blog-vention-- I am so embarrassed. Today, my friends surprised me for lunch and then confronted and admitted to me that my blog has become too much for them. I’m TOO detailed, TOO wordy, TOO expressive. And, while it has cut back on the long emails I send them daily, it is really starting to annoy them. They say I have lost the whole purpose of a blog. Sigh…oh why couldn’t I just keep things short and witty? Why…

5. Blog-ceptance—I am there now. I am the “Blog Gambler”—I know when to “hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em.” I share certain things, and sometimes days might go by where I have nothing to share. And, I confidently know, this doesn’t make me a pathetic stay-at-home mom in suburbia with a boring life! This is just the way blogs go. I am slowly building my friendships back…there is hope now. Life is good…
