What I've Been Up To...
At long last, I am making the time to put an update on here! So, my close family and friends already know this, but I didn't really share what I've been up to lately with everyone. I joined a running program 10-weeks ago today!
The program is geared towards beginner to intermediate runners and focuses on teaching you the skills you need to build up endurance and run a 5K. It has been really an amazing experience. My first night there, I could tell it was completely different than I thought it would be. To read more about that, click here.
There were people of every shape, size, and age all waiting anxiously to start the program that night. And, in the next 9 weeks, I had many obstacles and challenges that got in my way. The largest of them was a bad case of runners' knee thanks to my flat feet. A knee brace seemed to help a great deal, along with ice after runs and changing up the issued schedule to something my tired old feet could handle. (Hey, they have each been broken at least once, along with several toes along the way. Give them a break!)
So, last weekend was the big moment for me--the 5K! I was so nervous and yet excited to be there. The weather proved very difficult, with high winds and rain as we were running. But, I finished and I finished at a faster time than I had been shooting for at 32:05. This is laughable when I think what I used to run my mile in for the high school track team, but considering I had a baby only about a year ago I am going to not try to hold myself to my normally ridiculously high standards just this one time!
I had hoped to have pictures to post on here. I have ordered some, and the others haven't been posted online yet. But, as soon as I get them, I will post them. For now, here is a link to a longer version of my racing experience. And here's a shot of our group. (Yes, one of the tiny antlike specs you see in the picture is me, I promise!)

Power in Motion (PIM) Running Group - May 2005

We leave for our family vacation to Mexico later this week, so think of us the next time you eat a burrito. Ole! More family pictures and wacky stories from the trip coming soon!
Sincerely,
Steph.
